Robert Austino

Robert Austino, County Commissioner

Bob Austino was elected to the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners in November 2024, bringing with him over 30 years of dedicated law enforcement experience. He began his career with the Vineland Police Department in April 1973, steadily rising through the ranks to the position of lieutenant before retiring in July 2003.

In addition to his tenure with the Vineland Police Department, Austino served as Sheriff of Cumberland County, assuming office on January 1, 2009. He earned the trust of voters and was re-elected for five consecutive terms, demonstrating his leadership and commitment to public service.

Bob Austino is a proud graduate of Bridgeton High School and attended Cumberland County College and Glassboro State College. Throughout his career, he has furthered his education by completing numerous accredited courses related to county government and administration.

His professional affiliations include membership in the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the National Sheriff’s Association, the New Jersey Sheriff’s Association, the Cumberland County Human Relations Commission, and the Cumberland County Youth Services Advisory Council. Austino also serves as an advisor to the Cumberland County Vo-Tech Center and is a past president of both the Fraternal Order of Police, Cumberland Lodge #8, and the Vineland Superior Officers Association.

As a County Commissioner, Bob Austino is dedicated to promoting accountability and responsible stewardship of county tax dollars. His focus remains on implementing policies and procedures that will enhance the lives of Cumberland County residents.
